Safety, Health & Environmental

k2933660Westcon’s culture for SH&E starts with the commitment to excellence from the president and the entire corporate management team for the company. The corporate management team leads this culture by example, personally gets involved with all new employee training on the topic of SH&E, and participates in every monthly project audit. It is the strong commitment to SH&E and the culture of the company that has made Westcon a leader in SH&E amongst all U.S. construction-industry peers in every major industrial market. Westcon’s safety statistics and overall program are “best-in-class”, and have been recognized and accepted by the top-tier company leaders in all major U.S. industrial markets.

As a leader in SH&E, Westcon has adopted a behavior-based safety program that has a proven track-record for improving the safety culture and safety performance for the company. This program is led by the corporate SH&E director and all SH&E leaders in the field are trained on the implementation and oversight of the program.

Westcon believes that maintaining the highest level of excellence in SH&E requires a continuous improvement philosophy and plan. Therefore, the company has a constant dedication to learning and training in all areas of industrial safety. The safety training starts with the corporate SH&E director and his direct project SH&E leaders in the field. The corporate director receives constant training on new regulations from OSHA and MSHA, participates on various industry safety councils, attends safety-related conferences and expositions, reviews and selects new and advanced industrial products for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and networks with other SH&E leaders in the industry. A major role and responsibility for the corporate SH&E director is to provide company-wide training on any new industry standard or practice, and to ensure that the changes are properly implemented in the field and audited frequently.
