mcp picture1Mark C. Peterson, company president, started Westcon, Inc., in Bismarck, N.D., in 1981 as a regional open-shop industrial construction contractor.

In 1985, the company started mechanical projects in multiple oil and gas, and refining facilities. By 1987, Westcon, Inc., started work in coal-fired power plants and built a reputation for managing turnarounds and capital projects for the power industry.

During the late 1980s and into the 1990s Westcon became a strong construction player and opened regional offices. Westcon gained recognition as a general contractor supporting many industrial markets including oil and gas, refining, agricultural/food processing, bulk pharmaceuticals, power, and various manufacturing processes.

In the last decade, Westcon joined the emerging biofuels market and built many green-field facilities.
