History
Westcon, Incorporated was started in 1981 in Bismarck, North Dakota, as an oil and gas pipeline contractor. Since its beginning, Westcon, Inc. has focused on customer service and total quality performance. Because of satisfied customers and a strong safety culture, much of the work and the early growth of the company were based on repeat customers.
In 1985, the company started performing mechanical projects in multiple oil and gas, and refining facilities. By 1987, Westcon, Inc. started working in various coal-fired power plants, and built a reputation for managing turnarounds and capital projects for the power industry.
During the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s, Westcon became a strong construction player in many regions throughout the U.S. During this time the company opened several regional offices. During that decade, Westcon started to gain recognition as a general contractor supporting many industrial markets and a wide array of clients. Some of the primary markets at that time included oil and gas, refining, agricultural/food processing, bulk pharmaceuticals, power, and various manufacturing processes. This growth period afforded the company with the ability to hire a full complement of project leadership professionals, and Westcon built a strong staff of superintendents and project field staff.
In the early and mid-2000s, Westcon joined the emerging biofuels market, built many grass-roots facilities, and continued to develop the project leadership ranks while maintaining the market share and key clients from the various other industrial markets.

Today, Westcon is known as a value-added, direct-hire construction leader in many industrial markets throughout much of the continental U.S. The company is recognized as a general contractor with strong project leadership. The focus is to provide solutions to many of the challenging projects of today. The company’s key resources and experience span the breadth of industrial markets, and the project leadership depth continues to facilitate growth in the current economy.
The future for Westcon continues to forecast growth and stability thanks to the safety culture and overall performance of the company. With “best-in-class” safety statistics and a strong project leadership focus, Westcon will continue to attract top talent and provide complete customer satisfaction for challenging projects in the major U.S. industrial markets. Our vision is to continue to grow and build on the repeat business model by earning the trust and confidence from our clients, one project at a time.
